Mens Pubic Shaving Mistakes Revealed

As men do not generally discuss their pubic shaving concerns with each other in an open setting, most are left to figure out the do’s and don’ts of male pubic shaving on their own. This doesn’t include just figuring out which tools and products work best for pubic shaving, but can also include some potentially painful lessons in what not to do when shaving your pubes!

Some men make the mistake of thinking that techniques and products that work best for their wife or girlfriend will work best for them. This is a big no, no! Here are some of the things to avoid when shaving your pubic hair.

What Not To Do When Shaving Your Balls:

Do not use a razor blade!

This is a point that should be obvious, but isn’t to many: male pubic shaving does NOT need to involve the use of a razor blade. Your balls are the last area you want to be getting nicked by something sharp, so whatever you do, do NOT use a razor blade down there. Ideally you want to use something like the Philips Norelco Bodygroom or the Seiko S-Yard ES1080 Cleancut Personal Shaver.

Aftershave is for your FACE, not anywhere else.

If aftershave can be strong for your face, you really shouldn’t consider putting it on more sensitive areas, so it’s definitely not something you want to use after you shave your pubes. Use Balla Powder instead, as it’s gentle and especially made for this purpose.

Wax should not be used under ANY circumstances

If the not quite so bright idea to wax your scrotum comes to mind, dismiss it immediately. If you’re a man, then you can do serious damage by trying to wax your pubic area, which is why this site is focused on male pubic shaving, and most definitely not male pubic waxing.

Itching After Shaving Your Pubes?

A common occurrence for many first time pubic shavers is an uncomfortable itching sensation in the area subsequent to the shaving. This is completely normal, but thankfully also avoidable by using the right pubic shaving accessories.

So how to shave your pubic area without needing to scratch like a mad man later? It’s actually pretty simple. Here are some crucial tips:

First of all, if you are already itchy, resist the urge to scratch (especially if you are in pubic, haha). Scratching can cause additional irritation and make you more uncomfortable.

Secondly, avoid the use of talc. Talcs generally contain harsh ingredients and perfumes which can aggravate matters.

Very important: Aftershave is a BAD idea. Let’s be clear on this, aftershave is for after you shave your face, not for after you shave your pubic hair. The scrotum skin is too sensitive for alcohol based products, such as aftershave.

So, what can you use for male pubic shaving?

There is actually one talc that you can use, as it was precisely created for all parts of the male body. It’s called Balla Powder and can be bought rather cheaply on Amazon.com. It is not only asbestos free, but works great for after pubic shaving as it calms the area and prevents irritation and,  therefore, itching.
